After the demonstration,
Pat described how to make the sanding pads he used. By using a regular
carrage bolt with the head cut off , a fender washer, hex nut, and a T-Nut,
this sanding pad was made. The base material is foam that Orthipedic
shoe inserts are made from.
The bottom is rough
cut and a hole cut in the center for the T-Nut. The big part of
the T-Nut is placed in the foam to be in the middle of the finished pad.
The bolt with a nut and washer is screwed into the T-Nut to hold
it firmly. To attach the outer piece of foam, common superglue
is used. Next, the velcro must be firmly attached. Pat recommended
Household
Adhesive made by Goop. He says that anything will not sufficiently
hold the velcro. The last step is to place the pad in an electric
drill and go to your bench grinder. While using the drill to spin
the pad, shape it on the grinder to get the tapered shape. I hope
everyone that needs some of these pads will try to make several.
